Desjardins Financial Security Guaranteed Investment Funds are established by Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Company. They are called "segregated funds" because assets are kept separate from the general funds of the life insurance company.

For these two cases, the minimum initial investment is not applicable if the payments are made through a pre-authorized cheque plan and the total deposits in the first twelve months amount to at least $500.

Fee-free Surrenders
Series 3B or 3C surrender charges can be waived or refunded for the following surrenders:
 

• up to a maximum each year of 12% of the value of the units
• for permanent and irreversible disability
   

Surrender charges are waived on the death of the annuitant.

No Probate Fees
At the death of the contractholder, the funds are directly paid to the designated beneficiary (except for the eligible party), avoiding the eventual delays and charges associated with executing a will. Conditions may vary from a province to another.
