This benefit pays a percentage of the insured amount if an insured child is dismembered in an accident. This benefit may be added only when the Children's Protection Benefit is chosen.
The percentage varies depending on the loss sustained by the insured. Issue Ages - (Age nearest)
- Policyowner: age 18 to 55
- Child: 24 hours to age 21 or up to age 25, if a full-time student
Benefit Amount
- $5,000 to 3 times the amount of insurance chosen for CPB or CHB
Benefit Cost
- Fixed - Guaranteed
- Ceases to be payable on the policyowner 65
birthday
Termination of Coverage
The earliest of:
- the policyowner's 65
birthday
- the last insured child turns 21 or 25, if a full-time student
- the date the benefit or the contract is terminated
Characteristics
In the event of dismemberment, 100% of the benefit amount will be paid, with a maximum of 200% of the benefit amount in the event of multiple losses sustained in the same accident (see list of covered limbs in the contract). The benefit may be doubled under certain circumstances (e.g. accident aboard public transportation). The benefit is payable for each loss providing that they result from separate accidents.
If the insured dies within one year following the accident and a benefit has already been paid under this benefit, it will be deducted from the life insurance amount payable through the Children's Protection Benefit.
